My setup consists of an old iMac running Logic Pro 8 and some VST’s and AU plugins (I use Massive for most of my synth sounds), some $20 Skullcandy earbuds (for bass-range balancing) and a pair of AKG k240’s (Very crisp clean mid-high end, bass-range response not boastable, but 24bit/96k music sounds AMAZING). I produce electronic dance music and some other heavily electronically-influenced music, meaning almost NO outboard gear and doing most everything in the box. The link to my latest music is here: /spektrum-1īasically, I’ve been into mixing/recording for many years as a younger child, (I’m 16 now) just fiddling around with loops in garageband and what not, but only a little over 2 years ago I got into “real” producing. I would appreciate to hear your opinion on my setup in comparison to the work I’ve been churning out as I’ve gotten better at it all. Hey Graham, thanks for the video! Very insightful on balancing mix quality/comfort/consistency with a budget. I tend to draw lots of freehand 3 dimensional sketches of the room area to a roughly close scale with the items in them to help visualise the space and find that it really helps a lot… Reply I hope this could be of use to you in some small way 🙂 but it really does help to sort out all the knarnky/knarly bits before you go ahead especially for things like cable routing, monitor placement, speaker placement, keyboard/synth and rack gear placement. I have a real leap ahead on this count as I was trained in an apprenticeship in both classically and modern furniture making so I really enjoy doing my own stuff after years and years of cabinet making, guitar making & also wooden canoe making etc. Hi Grayson, When it comes to a functional studio desk you really need to think out all the things that you require to do on/in that space and look at it through your mind’s eye and pull it apart and then reassemble it in as many configurations as you can to get the best balance of usefulness out of your desk space. I hope you or someone can find a moment to give some insight, thank you!!! Reply And being that the eleven rack is also an interface, what would be a good method of connecting it to the computer? Meaning, would I connect both to the computer at the same time? My issue is that the speaker monitors have to connect to one interface, so how would I set up those monitors so I don’t have to constantly disconnect from one interface to the other? How do you set up yours, considering you have a similar setup with two interfaces? Also, do you only use your 11R for guitar and bass? I know it has mic inputs, but didn’t know your thoughts in those. So would you always leave the mic Pre connected to your main interface? In my case that would be the Scarlett 2i4. My question is that I am confused what to do. I have a Scarlett 2i4 interface, a GoldenAge preamp, and I recently purchased the eleven rack. It made me wonder what you would do in my situation. Thank you For the great video! Quick question if you get a chance: I like that you showed us the rack unit where you can connect XLR cables in the front for ease of use. I talked too much, hope it’ll help 😉 Reply Not so many pedals than other two.Īlso there’s a guy called LePou and he makes pretty good high gain amp plugins and shares them for free. Good peavey amps, mesa, poor marshall and orange. And if you play some extreme stuff you can get Peavey Revalver 4 (100$) though I like the previous version better. Both are versatile and are good for blues, jazz or rock music, but they are not as good for high gain stuff. This one has some good marshall models, fenders and rectifier are ok, 6505 is bad, but still better than amplitube, nice pedal package. The other one is Native instruments Guitar Rig 5 (pro version – 200$, player version is free).

And I couldn’t get any good reverb sound not from amps, neither from pedals, or rack fx.

IK Multimedia Amplitube 3 (100$) has good fender amp sims, orange sims (though they are a little bit fizzy for me) engl powerball is amazing (but these models aren’t included in original package, so you have to buy them in custom shop), mesa rectifier is ok, peavey 6505 is the worst peavey sim I’ve ever heard, and also it has bunch of pedals. It really depends on your playing style and budget. There are multiple solutions for guitar software. IHMO 11 rack doesn’t sound better than many amp simulating programs, but it’s better for gigs and maybe feels better.

I’m not Graham, but I think I can tell you something that maybe can help you.
